Miriam had been in a traumatic accident five years before. She had suffered a severe head injury and yet had made a good recovery. However she was still bothered by a feeling that she couldn’t entirely be in her body. And she had the most awful flashbacks on a regular basis.
We used EFT to release the fears and other emotional trauma not only regarding the accident itself but also regarding the emergency room experience, which was traumatic in its own way. It was very clear to Miriam that all the trauma was still held in her body. She really responded to EFT which, being a body-centered technique, allowed her to release the tense holding patterns that were locked into her body from the accident without her having to relive the trauma. We did a series of sessions and she felt tremendous relief. EFT was the breakthough she had been looking for.
In her words,
Before we began working with EFT, I had been stuck for five years in constant flashbacks. They would come several times a day and would be really intense a few times a week. In my case, the injury to the brain and central nervous system just intensified the flashbacks and the trauma was re-experienced over and over. My nervous system was overloaded and hypersensitive, totally short-circuited. I was living a nightmare. I think the assault of the trauma left an enormous energetic imprint in my body. EFT was the first thing that cleared that. It enabled me to break that cycle of traumatic stress. It’s amazing. For me, EFT broke through the fear, the energy of fear that had gotten stuck in my body, and opened my heart, enabling me to love again. It changed everything and has allowed me to be in the world again.
